TASH JAMES
THE JAZZY BOOKWORM
JAZZ SINGER - WRITER - CREATIVE
I’m an arts lover and an arts-seller;
A story-guzzler and a storyteller.
Sometimes I conjure up tales and write them down.
And sometimes I sing, storytelling with sound.

Tash James is a writer, singer and creative, who blends her love for writing, music and art into her creative yield, as 'The Jazzy Bookworm'. She started her singing career in London UK, fronting a seven-piece jazz-funk band, and with the London Youth Gospel Choir, who supported global star Mavis Staples for the TV recording of BBC's Songs of Praise. More recently, she has performed on nationally televised shows with the Brisbane City Gospel Choir and the Little Red Company, as well as gigging as a solo jazz artist. Her non-fiction writing has been published in the South China Morning Post and Mamamia, and 'The Bird and The Tree' is her first published work of fiction.
A former nomad, Tash grew up in the Middle East, the UK and Hong Kong, and now calls Brisbane (Meanjin) home. Her mixed Afro-Caribbean/English/French/Portuguese heritage informs her art, and she carries this sense of fusion into her artistic choices and performances. When not working, she loves to travel to new places with her husband and their two young children.
